When Mathias goes to Rudolph's tent after their last battle, his lover looks at him without a hint of recognition. It adds a certain tone to the story but I disliked the obvious nature of his inclusion and furthermore the treatment of the character. He goes from claiming he loves Ernst, to claim he loves M.
